Dr Zahi Hawass visited Bulgaria in the period February 8th-10th. He was in Sofia in order to attend a series of events. He gave a press conference in which he emphasized Egypt’s security and called on Bulgarian journalists to write that Egypt is a safe tourist destination. At the press conference, he said that he will deliver a public lecture in which he will state his opinion on three issues: Whether there is a second tomb in the tomb of Tutankhamun. UNWTO Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai, has expressed the Organizations’ full confidence in the recovery of tourism in Egypt during a recent visit to the country. On the occasion, Mr. Rifai met with Egypt’s President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi,in the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Tourism, Hisham Zaazou. The President reiterated his full support to the tourism sector and its utmost determination in ensuring that Egypt is a safe, attractive and leading tourism destination saying “if tourism recovers, Egypt will recover”.
Meeting with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail Mohamed, Secretary-General discussed measures to accelerate the recovery of tourism to Egypt and praised the support being given to the sector. The third Golden Apple for 2015 was given to Palic marking:170 years of organized tourism in this memorable Serbian town. The tourist life of Palic began in 1845, when the Hungarian Royal Chamber granted the finances to build a bath and an inn.
