Golden Apple for Cavtat-Konavle

The prestigious Golden Apple Award, one of the highest recognitions in international tourism awarded by FIJET – the World Federation of Travel Journalists and Writers, was officially presented to the destination of Cavtat–Konavle at a ceremony held on the Cavtat waterfront.

The distinguished guests and FIJET delegates were welcomed by Frano Herendija, Director of the Cavtat-Konavle Tourist Board, Božo Lasić, Mayor of the Municipality of Konavle, Tina Ćubrilo, Vice President of FIJET World and President of FIJET Croatia, Plamen Starev, Chair of the FIJET Awards Committee and Tijani Haddad, President of FIJET.

The speakers highlighted the significance of this international recognition for Cavtat and Konavle, emphasizing the destination’s commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, authenticity, and hospitality while continuously developing sustainable tourism.

The ceremony was enriched by a vibrant cultural and musical programme. Members of Čilipi Folklore presented traditional songs and dances of the Konavle region, showcasing the area’s rich customs and heritage. The audience also enjoyed performances by jazz vocalist Maja Grgić-Novaković, whose album was nominated for a Porin Award in the Best Jazz Music Album category, and renowned jazz pianist Teo Martinović, whose music added a special atmosphere to this memorable celebration.

The Golden Apple Award represents an important international acknowledgment of the exceptional tourism values of Cavtat and Konavle and further strengthens the destination’s position on the global tourism map.
